Dangerously in love was the first solo album released by Beyonce Knowles, released in 2003. Beyonce was originally from the girl band Destiny's Child, but branched out by herself when the group split. Beyonce has got a great voice as a solo artist, reaching high vocals with rhythm. The genre of this CD is R & B; this is evident because of the tuneful melody with Beyonce's sexy soulful voice over the top of the music. 'Crazy In Love' was definatly the most popular song from this album, most people around in 2003 will know of it as it was a massive hit she did with Jay-Z, her soon to be husband. The song is about being madly in love with somebody which I'm sure many people can relate to. 'Crazy In Love' is an extremely upbeat song and has been used in many films including Bridget Jones' Diary. Beyonce is a woman's woman which is a reputation she has built up and kept through her class, sexiness and genuine, real personality which comes across in her music. For example, in her song 'Me, Myself And I' Beyonce mentions that 'love is so blind it feels right when it's wrong' which is easy for other women to identify with. This song is also confident and encourages other women to be too, as she says 'from now on i'm going to be my own best friend'; this is both encouraging and empowering and shows how Beyonce now has a reputation for being a woman's woman. A lot of Beyonce's songs from this album are chilled out and could be played as chillout music, although some are more 'dancey' so could be used to play at parties, especially 'Crazy In Love' which is very upbeat, or 'Hip Hop Star.' Beyonce's album Dangerously In Love has compilations with Jay Z, Sean Paul, Missy Elliott and some other stars, which shows she is a well respected, popular mainstream star that will hopefully continue to make good music.
