Advantages: Silly, Childish, Daft
Disadvantages: Silly, Childish, daft
Gonna be controversial here, I find Daphne and Celeste occasionally amusing. Why? Because you're missing the joke! D and C are actually a parody of bubblegum pop, they are *very* manufactured and have amusingly bizarre lyrics like "Up your butt with a coconut" and "Teriyaki makes me happy". If anything they show how shoddy most pop is, how childish it is. You have to admire their guts to go to Reading or Leeds or whatever it was to perform under a hail of bottles, many of them containing unpleasant substances. Daphne and Celeste are a joke band, you might not like their music, but they were never intended to be taken seriously. Their career has disappeared now by the looks of it, and I just hope they enjoyed the ride. It was never clear who they were trying to appeal to, post-ironic pop culture ghettoites or just kids. They appeared in an odd cloud of brightly coloured smoke and then disappeared just as quickly. Put it this way, I'd rather listen to D+C over Robbie "mediocre" Williams any time.

- 21/04/02 They were fun, in a pretty appalling sort of way. I did want to shoot them for what they did to "School's Out" though!
