It was no surprise when David Cook became the American Idol winner of Season 7, and probably no less of a surprise that his debut self-named album has already gone platinum. This is an artist who might have remained in the netherworld of oblivion had it not been for the contest, and for many, brought integrity back to the show that it hasn't had since they kicked Chris Daughtry off in Season 5. While Daughtry's first album was a touch of a disappointment due to its slightly monotone quality and less than inspirational lyrics, Cook seems to have taken a big step forward from there without straying from the person we grew to love throughout the ... Up until this past year or so, I have worked shifts in catering, and as such haven't had much free time at the weekends. This has meant that I haven't watched much reality TV, or any of the talent competitions such as X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, America's Got Talent or American Idol. This year, however, I watched the two hour long final of American Idol, and was blown away at the spectacle they put on. Imagine my surprise when out comes this guy called David Cook who I have never heard of, belting out this powerful number called 'Permanent'. 'Wow!' I said, 'he's pretty good.' To which my wife replied, 'I know. He won American Idol last year. I have his ... Read the complete review

If you were following the last series of American idol you may have been aware of the success of David Cook as he took the title with grace and with enormous empathy for his very close friend and runner up David Archuleta. So as the sales of his first album simply called "David Cook" soars to over 700,000 (soon to go Platinum). I thought I would review my copy of this album, which in my opinion, is a masterpiece. David Cook is a rock singer who sounds like a cross between Bryan Adams and Bon Jovi with a touch Of Snow Patrol. He is a rustic singer who has his own style and performs his own lyrics with enormous compassion and emotion. Born on December ... Read the complete review

David Cook ----------------- As most of you already know, I'm a big rock chick when it comes to heart. I'll listen to other types of music, but will always find myself coming back to my first love, rock music. Whether it's heavy rock or soft rock, as long as it's got a good beat and a good singer, I'll probably love it. I have never really adored the X Factor, I have always found the singers to be just okay, excluding Leona Lewis whose voice is just out of this world, none of the others have in my eyes, done well. Every year since as far back as Ruben I have tuned into American Idol, they seemed to allow the talented people into audition, where as X ... Read the complete review

I am a very big fan of the reality TV shows, X Factor, Britain's Got Talent and most of all American Idol, I think these show are a great way of giving people the chance to make it. I think American Idol seems to produce some incredible talent, it seems each year they have that one person who you know is going to make it big, for example Kelly Clarkson (who I am a massive fan of) and now David Cook (winner of season seven in 2008). From the very first show I loved the sound of David Cooks voice, it just had a completely different sound from the other contestants and he made every song his own, he didn't seem bothered about how big a song was, he would change ...
