If you imagine the bit at the end of 'A Day in the Life' being covered by a supergroup containing members of the Beach Boys, the Velvet Underground and the Fall, you won't even come close to the imagining the majesty of this album. Quite simply, 'Daydream Nation' stands up today as perhaps the best American rock album of the last 20 years. Sonic Youth's preceeding album 'Sister' had been a graet leap forward for the band, who had seemed to reach a consistency that had previously eluded them, however, 'Daydream Nation' seems to take this coherency and experimentalism to new levels.
