... take you through a collaboration of gentle songs, thoughtful moods and the odd wolf whistle from the audience, who I have to admit, are pretty well behaved throughout the whole set. Showing the three poses of a black and white Weller on stage, the album cover will not amaze you by any stretch of the imagination, what will become apparent on listening to the album though, is the wonderment that Weller hasn’t dabbled in a live album thing too much before and why he had left it so long to do so in between. Crowned Review Days Of Speed - Paul Weller: Days In The Mind Of Paul Weller (1433 words)

Since the birth of the Mod father in May 1958 in humble Woking in Surrey, it wasn’t long before it wasn’t just his doting parents looking admiringly at him for in around 1983, he came to the for with the unsurpassable Style Council and since then, he has been not just an icon in the Mod movement of the late Seventies , but a political spokesman on the very important social issues of the eighties with his band. This album was eagerly anticipated by me, as it is a compilation of some of his most popular tracks but played live on an acoustic tour, which as I have mentioned is where he really shines for me, although this time he ...

Premium Review Days Of Speed - Paul Weller: That's Entertainment (999 words)

The Modfather has returned to the British music scene with a bang after releasing a live compilation album Days Of Speed, featuring some of his greatest hits. For those of you that don’t know, Paul Weller was in a group called The Jam along with a couple of school friends. For five short years The Jam were involved in reshaping the British music scene, along with groups like The Clash and The Sex Pistols. Paul became discontented and left to form Style Council, who were never as highly acclaimed, although Paul’s writing had progressed massively, drawing on influences from Motown. Eventually he left the Style Council and decided to go it alone and has been ...
