Advantages: Stripped Down Classics, every one..... Now Thats Entertainment!

Disadvantages: I just can't think of one right now.

I'd have to say that the title says it all, this album is the best thing that I have heared all year. Its the first record, in a long time, that I have taken out of case and put on and simply played over and over through choice, not simply because I was busy doing something else and couldn't be bothered to change the music. If you are a fan of the Mr Weller and you think that there is going to be nothing new for you here, you'd be sooo wrong. The accoutsic arrangements of the classic songs (from the days of The Jam, Style Council, etc.) makes them seem as fresh and new as they day they were first played, Town Called Malice and Thats Entertainment are perfect with the audience participation. And that the other thing which gives this record a great dimension, the feeling that as you enjoy each song that there is an audience there listening to the record with you and cheering with you and egging on this great song writer/performer.

I'm sitting here listening to this right now (English Rose has just finished, now there is a real classic) and if I could be as poetic and articulate as Mr Weller everyone would be in the process of buying this record. But, if you are reading this thinking that this is just an album for the fans (maybe because of my excited description) you should experience the album and the man for yourself. For that is exactly what this album is, an experience, a great introduction to the music of Paul Weller played through he matured self, but with the passion of all his younger incarnations.

While critics seem to be knocking this album, especially in web based reviews, I hope that my ranting will encourange just one person to experience this album and that enjoy it a fraction as much as I did.
