... industry. On this album, you can expect to feel the rush of life running through your veins as you listen to the fast "First Day Of My life", spend about three minutes in the clouds with the thought-provoking track "Still standing", before allowing the adrenaline to rush back to your head for the awesome skate-punk song "In my Life." And you're not even half way through the CD yet! No, Pauli (guitarist) still wants to wow you with his riffs in 'Not Like The Other Girls'...and so on. Just remem...more

Crowned Review Dead Letters - The Rasmus: The Rasmus; dead like their letters? (1794 words)

The Rasmus are: Lauri Ylonen (vocals) Pauli Rantasalmi (Guitars) Eero Heinomen (Bass) Aki Hakala (Drums) (Now I want you to be able 2 recite those back to yourself at the end of this review, with correct spellings… what? Oh come on, they're not THAT hard!?) Anyway, this album - "Dead Letters" marked the beginning of the Rasmus' influence on the British music industry, although unaware to many (I know it was to me before I had liked this band enough to research them further), the Rasmus truly began their music career, way back in 1996, when they released their first album ever "Peep" in Finland. This was ...  Read the complete review

My daughter was the first person to bring The Rasmus to my attention. She is an avid music channel viewer, and started to sing a song around the house quite a lot. I later found out that the group behind the song were Finland based band The Rasmus, and I started to like the song she was singing, which was called ?In The Shadows?, and then their follow up single grew on me, so very unlike me, I bought the album based on how much I liked those two songs. Opening track ?First Day Of My Life? starts off as if it is going to be a very heavy guitar drenched opening, but then the lyrics ...  Read the complete review

Let me be the first to inform Dooyoo-ers about what might be the album of the year. I can?t believe that no one has rated this album yet, and I probably won?t do it justice, as I don?t know much about music. But this has to be one of the best albums I?ve heard! ?Dead Letters? by ?The Rasmus.? Most people in the UK aren?t terribly aware of The Rasmus, but I can guarantee with the release of ?In the Shadows,? which is scheduled for April this year, The Rasmus will replicate their European Success in Britain. If you haven?t got tickets for one of their upcoming gigs in the UK, then book them now before they release their single. They have performed sell-out gigs ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The Rasmus Come Of Age (164 words)

...A dead letter is a letter that has never been delivered because the person to whom it was written cannot be found, and it also cannot be returned to the person who wrote it... It seems a long time since The Rasmus broke into the UK with their hit Dead Letters album, and this UK edition with three bonus tracks is the business. Unsurprisingly, the album still sounds as fresh, fun and upbeat as it did a few years back and it's always a pleasure to listen to; especially the sexy and tobacco fuelled vocals of Lauri Ylönen. Picking out a highlight track from such a smooth running and well produced set isn't easy, but the hit single In The ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dead Letters - The Rasmus: Possibly my favourite album of all time (274 words)

A fantastic album! I first heard The Rasmus in 2004 at my local gym on the MTV channel but despite loving the single Guilty, I didn't know who they were as the video came on part way through and I didn't catch their name. I actually bought the album based on the cover art as I thought the logo was beautiful so was really happy to find that it was the same band. This is I think their best album to date. In total, The Rasmus have released 7 studio albums over about 15 years. The album's name comes from the term for letters that never reach a recepient. They have said that the album's songs are a collection of letters all written for someone. The Rasmus are hard ...  Read the complete review
