Advantages: Try something new, they're about the music and not the money or fame

Disadvantages: none in my opinion

A fantastic album! I first heard The Rasmus in 2004 at my local gym on the MTV channel but despite loving the single Guilty, I didn't know who they were as the video came on part way through and I didn't catch their name. I actually bought the album based on the cover art as I thought the logo was beautiful so was really happy to find that it was the same band.

This is I think their best album to date. In total, The Rasmus have released 7 studio albums over about 15 years. The album's name comes from the term for letters that never reach a recepient. They have said that the album's songs are a collection of letters all written for someone. The Rasmus are hard to catogorise. I would say that they are closely related to acts like Bon Jovi and Counting Crows. There's a very 80s rock feel about their sound. One of the best things about them is that as the Finnish rock scene seems so closely linked, they have also opened me up to other acts including Hay and Stone, Apocolyptica, PMMP, Lordi and Nightwish.

Plus they are amazing live (seen them 4 times) and all are either classically trained or can at least play an instrument very, very well. No plastic pop advertising or mixing desks full of compression required to make them sound great! I think they are better live as the music has a more raw sound to it.
Come for the rock and stay for the whole new world of music that we just don't seem to get anymore in the UK!

Summary: Great band - should be more widely heard in the UK
