Advantages: The boys are back in town

Disadvantages: sound a bit timid but i can live it

This album has been eagerly awaited since St.Anger. Pure and simple!

When St. Anger came to be everyone believed metallica were becoming a has been band, Filled nostalgic tours playing their classics til the cows come home.
Metallica honestly made me feel short changed with St. Anger, but i never stopped believing in them. My mere words to every naysayer in 2003/04 were "just you wait they'll be back with an album that'll measure to master of puppets or ...justice. I waited, and waited... when a video came out on youtube with Metallica in 2007 playing what would be titled "The New Song" or "Death is Not The End". This song was a sign of hope that metallica are on the verge of something special. with the help of the internet they helped every fan like me to experience life in the studio of metallica. giving us hints, riff excerpts, and title guessing. then eventually on 12th september 2008. Death Magnetic Was unleashed to the world.

1. That Was Just Your Life
This opener starts with the eerie sounds of guitar and heart beat. Then crashing into a fast stronghold of fast paced metal, and speeding lyrics like the sign of james voice will never die.

2. The End of The Line
Intro like the same of the new song, This to a more open loose guitar riffing straight into fast thrash this goes off leaps and bounds, first tight, the loose then tight again! And notably the solos by kirk are like they never left him since st. anger.

3. Broken, Beat & Scarred
With the most memorable words that drive through this song with ease and depth. "What don't kill ya make ya more strong" If thats so this is where metallica found that out!

4. The Day That Never Comes
Close reminiscent to One, This creates another political message, whether metallica like it or not. A great ballad that stands along side nothing else matters.

5. All Nightmare Long
With a title that would suite goth punk rocker wednesday 13, this is gotta be one of the highlights of the album. played entirely D-tuned it gives us what St. Anger was meant to be.

6. Cyanide
Designed around something like master of puppets leper messiah or something like the black album. this was the first song to be premiered off the album at ozzfest.

7. The Unforgiven III
Primarily different to the previous unforgivens, this track focus's on the the story of life out at sea. the dangers of taking risks and the consequences it leads to. finding the chance to forgive yourself but never able to.

8. The Judas Kiss
Another firm favorite of mine. Just no nonsense heavy metal. entwined with a prog rock designed lyric "So what now, Where Go i." As in the journey of this album explains whats to come next??

9. Suicide & Redemption
The first ever instrumental to be made since To Live is To Die in ...Justice. Like a musical maze through an almost 10 minute period created in a design like dream theater .

10. My Apocalypse
Full on thrash metal, kinda slayerish in areas and hardcore in little bits, and major love to all metallica fans as it brings metallica back to the genre they once shunned.

All round great album not one song out of place, sound is a bit worse for ware, but thats to be expected i guess. Metallica are back in full swing and who knows whats to come next.

Summary: Great return to form album
