Define The Great Line is in my opinion the best underoath album to date. It shows such a maturity from their previous album, Their Only Chasing Safety, moving on from the more radio friendly sound to create a darker heavier album with much more progression and experimentation. There is not one song on the album that I would consider bad, or "filler". It shows a variety of moods and textures. Track 5 is instrumental track with a Russian bible verse floating over the top, adding dynamic contrast and a change of pace. In 2004 the band rose to fame with their 'They're Only Chasing Safety' album which sold more than 350 000 copies. Underoath came back after a 2 year wait with this album 'Define The Great Line' with which the band have a great stab at success in the metalcore genre, a genre they started off in with their first two albums 'Act of Depression' and 'Cries of the Past' before moving onto the melody, scream, repeat formula of the 'They're Only Chasing Safety' release. I feel that this was a wise move for the band as I feel that this is a genre that they do a lot more successfully, and so in returning to their roots as such the band are definitely onto a winner.
