Advantages: The songs

Disadvantages: None

Definitely Maybe is one of the great albums of the 90s. The debut by Oasis is definitely one of their better albums, if not their best. The album has a number of songs that are iconic and have great meaning behind them, and almost all of the songs could've been singles.

Few won't have heard of "Live Forever", arguably Oasis' finest song. Boasting great lyrics, an excellent tune and a fantastic guitar solo, this is an both an uplifting song and one that means a lot. "Cigarettes and Alcohol" is a song with which Noel Gallagher really wanted to say something about the UK at the time "Is it worth the aggravation to find yourself a job when there's nothing worth working for?" "Rock 'n' Roll Star" is about Noel's ambitions of being a rock and roll star, a well-known favourite amongst Oasis fans. "Slide Away", an underrated classic about Noel's girlfriend, and "Supersonic", a song that's really about everything from BMWs to doctors in helicopters. "Up In The Sky", another song about the failing conservative government and "Bring It On Down", a pure rock song. "Columbia", a slow song with some great instrumentals, best played on full volume. "Shakermaker", the bands second single is a nice and slow song. "Digsy's Dinner", a fun song about lasagne and strawberries and cream, and "Married With Children", a great acoustic ending to the album.

This is an album that truly defines the great time known as Britpop. There are too many great songs on here and you can't afford to ignore it as an album. It is raw Oasis, and definitely some of their finest work.

Summary: One of the greatest albums of its generation and of all time
