Advantages: The Best Soul Acts On A CD
Disadvantages: Not One
If you love soul music, there is one compilation CD you shouldn't be without, that CD is The Definitive Sound Of Atlantic soul, it's exactly what it says it is, it featured 53 of the very best soul and R&B acts which covers 3 decades. The CD isn't called Atlantic Soul for no reason; Atlantic was a huge record company that helped promote some of the best soul acts ever seen. For example Aretha Franklin is now considered the Queen of soul, but when she first started recording she had little success, she tried everything jazz, pop and soul, but she just couldn't get a hit. Her luck changed in 1967 when Atlantic signed her up, her career then rocketed. Atlantic records signed up some of the best soul acts ever seen, and this is reflected in the CD. This CD is a classic. It's a double CD containing 53 tracks, here are a few of the tracks on CD 1 I won't list them all as the list would go on forever. 1 Sam&Dave Soul Man. 2 Arther Conley Sweet Soul Music. 3 Wilson Picket In the Midnight Hour. 4 Booker& The MG'S Green Onions. 5 Aretha Franklin Think. 6 Soloman Burke Everybody Needs Somebody To Love. 7 Otis Redding Sitting On The Dock Of A Bay. 8 Percy Sledge When A Man Loves A Woman. 9 The Drifters Under The Boardwalk. 10 Aretha Franklin I Say A Little Prayer. I'm sure you will recognise most of these tracks, this is a very easy CD to listen too, and you wouldn't have to be a big soul fan to enjoy it. TIP If you buy this CD from the high street it will cost you at least £19 but it is available much cheaper online. HMV online sell this CD for £13.50 and Amazon sells it for £15.00. So you can make a considerable saving.
