Advantages: Great vocals,
Disadvantages: Not as good as their other albums
**Introduction**
I had been a fan of Destiny's Child since the release of their self titled debut album which was released in 1998. I have therefore been a fan throught all their lineup changes and In my opinion their lineup of Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams is their best lineup. They have all since released solo albums as have all other former members of Destiny's Child
except LaTavia Roberson who is in the process or recording her debut solo album. Destiny's Child became the worlds biggest selling female group of all time with a string of huge hits including the likes of "Bills, Bills, Bills", "Bug a Boo" and "Say My Name and more recently Independent Women", "Survivor" and "Bootylicious
**Destiny Fulfilled**
Destiny's Child released their fourth album in 2004 saying it would be their last as a group as they were going to pursue their solo careers after all three members had already released a solo album. The album was subject to a mixed reception from critics. This was mirrored in the charts with poor sales which led to them entering the album chart at 50 which for them was a major shock given the success they had experienced previously. Sales picked up however with the success of singles Lose My Breath and Soldier which had massive airplay and club success.
1.) Lose My Breath
This is a frenetic uptempo track which is one of the best uptempo tracks on the album. All three singers move through their parts superbly and this was a club classic just about anywhere you heard it. A great uptempo start to the album with some fantastic drum beats that add to the music which will get the sweat pouring in the club.
2.) Soldier
This is another uptempo track with some great beats. This track features T.I & Lil'Wayne and was also a great single from the group. Not quite as frenetic as Lose My Breath but this also got everyone up dancing in the clubs around the time of it's release. A great use of the bass laden drum beats and each singer has their part again.
3.) Cater 2 U
This is an interesting ballad due to the drum beat being heavier than most ballads. It works well though on this tribute to a partner about being there for them and giving them what they want. Michelle Williams vocal part towards the end sounds rather strange. Another fine track to start off the album with.
4.) T-Shirt
This track is led by Beyonce Knowles and is a ballad which has the same kind of heavy beat that Cater 2 U has, Although not one of their well known tracks this is a decent ballad but lacks the spark of their best ballads. Not a bad track in my opinion though.
5.) Is She the Reason
This is another ballad that has a thumping beat. This is probably better than the previous track T Shirt but is still not up there with some of their best ballads. Beyonce again leads on vocals with Michelle Williams and Kellly Rowland ably backing up on vocals. This track improves as it moves throught the verses.
6.) Girl
Another success as a single, Girl is a tale about your friends being there for you when your partner is cheating. This is one of the best examples on the album of how well Beyonce, Michelle and Kelly blend together. One of the best tracks on the album and a track that is right up there with some of their best tracks on their previous albums.
7.) Bad Habit
This has a nice beat and some nice keyboard sounds. This is one of the best tracks musically on the album. The melody is very pleasant and the vocals are as fine as ever. This track is about when you keep making the wrong decisions in a relationship that won't work. A great track that has the feel of a great Destiny's Child single.
8.) If
This opens with a short acapella from the girls which has an old school feel. Listen to this track and you will hear how well the three of them blend together vocally. The music is stripped down with just piano, strings and gentle percussion. This is a fabulous track which shows their talent. There's no doubt that If is One of the best tracks on the album.
9.) Free
This is a ballad with a funky drum beat and a little hint of Diana Ross musically in the background. Another fine ballad which shows they still have it as a group. All three perform their lead vocals very well indeed and they blend well enough to make this track one of the best tracks on the album.
10.) Through With Love
This track was co written by all three members with Mario Winans and Sean Garrett and is an uptempo ballad about giving up your friends for someone who turns out to be totally the wrong person for you. A great ballad which has a great message about keeping your friends. One of the best of the more uptemo ballads they have done.
11.) Love
This has a gentle guitar and keyboard intro with Kelly Rowland opening the track on lead vocals. This is another great ballad that is probably the slowest on the album. A great track that features all three singers performing their individual vocal parts superbly. One of the best examples of the improvment in the group with this threesome.
12.) Game Over
This is an international bonus track which did not feature on the US Version of the album. It's a worthwile bonus track which features another punchy bassline, it has a ballad feel and I really like the smooth vocal harmonies from them which add a great touch. A great end to the album.
**Overall**
Whilst I admit that Destiny Fullfilled is no Survivor it is still a decent album with some very decent tracks on that stand up against a lot of their previous tracks. When they had released this album they had decided to pursue their solo careers solely but kept the door open for a return and said they would return at some point with a new Destiny's Child album. I cannot wait for that moment and I will continue to listen to their albums as a group and solo until that time comes.
