Destiny’s Child first appeared on the scene with their first self-entitled album “Destiny’s Child” and unlike many thought, “The Writings on the Wall” was not the first album, this was! Released in 1997/8, this album included the girl’s first releases “With Me” and “No No No” although they didn’t do too well, they built the foundations for a great girl band who now are the biggest girl band in the world! The band originally consisted of cousins Beyonce Knowles and Kelle Rowland, Le Toya and La Tavia. The first song off the album is “Second Nature” beginning with a country style ... The Houston girl group Destiny's Child released their eponymous debut in 1997. It saw the quartet, consisting then of Beyoncé (as the lead vocalist), alongside Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson at a time where they only received mild success as they came through as a fresh female R&B group on the scene and brought with it a hit in "No, No, No" (Part 2) before dropping numerous hits on the album which followed on from it. 1. "Second Nature" The album begins with a nice little slow jam to ease you into what they have to offer on this one as they are seen to bring down the pace to one which they know will be ... This debut album by the all-girl R&B quartet is a quality album with some really complicated harmonies. I bought this album after hearing the hit single ‘No, No, No’ in 1997. When I first heard that track I thought ‘I like this group, they are harmonious, have great voices, and have a good vibe’. I was not disappointed with the album, although it was not what I expected at all. I thought the album would be similar in feel to ‘No, No, No’, but in fact it is a lot more mature and interesting, with a lot of different styles. There are a lot of slower numbers in the album, although I wouldn’t be doing ... Read the complete review

I'm a big fan of Destiny's Child, and I really loved their "Writing's On The Wall" album. Not that many people realise that they had released another album before that, because it didn't do too well (actually, it did terrible!) in the US or UK. I was browsing on Amazon one day and I saw this self titled disk at something like £6:99. Without a doubt I immediatley ordered it knowing how good some of their other work had been. As the CD took 1-2 weeks to be dispatched, I ended up going down to the shops and buying the newly released "Survivor" album. To say the least I was very disappointed and I started to wonder what ... Having first listened to 'the writings on the wall', and loving it, i was very disappointed with this album. The majority of the songs on it are ballads, which i dont feel is destinys childs strong point. There is of course the very catchy 'no no no', and the funky 'get on the bus', but there are also a lot of space fillers, and remixes on this album, that are no where near as good as their material on 'the writings on the wall'. The album is worth borrowing for the songs mentioned above, but anyone buying it hoping for songs like 'jumpin jumpin', and 'say my name', will be very disappointed as i was. ...
