This is still high quality black metal performed by masters of the craft, but it lacks much of the classic feel the band once possessed, as well as lacking their usual creativity. Gorgoroth's career takes a downturn with their fourth 'full-length' album, a term that has never seemed particularly appropriate considering the meagre duration of the band's recordings, and one that is especially dubious here considering this album's status as more of a collection of B-sides lumped together with arbitrary new material.
