The songs frequently twist and turn, the tempo rising and falling as the music reaches despondent plateaus before nosediving once more into sections of unhinged high-speed riffing. Elsewhere there are atmospheric sections of bleak mininalist clean cords and piano, as well as unsettling ambience in the form of ethereal whispering and the sound of gentle, lapping water. The songs tend to leap from one eccentric passage to the next, creating an impression mental instability and unpredictability,...more

Generally good album Not as good as their other stuff

The best metal/hard rock album in time? maybe Allegedly ''the sell out album''

Ten Great Tracks Only ten tracks

Great Power Metal with meaningfull lyrics, even if they dont mean anything in particular. Not everyone likes Power Metal, but they should (joke)

Great fun, well executed Fairly throwaway and unoriginal

Tomb Of The Mutilated - Cannibal Corpse
Archetypal death metal. Attempts to shock are pretty desperate at times.

Testify For My Victims - Carnal Forge
Improved vocals. Outside of cheap gimmicks and different lyrics, all songs are the same.

Symphonies Of Sickness - Carcass
Greater musical skill, more satisfying songs. May disappoint grindcore purists.

Isolate - Circus Maximus
Keeping the classic prog metal spirit alive through imitation. Focus on commercial ballads is disappointing.

Gore Obssessed - Cannibal Corpse
They haven't become a nu-metal band, at least. More of the same, worse than usual.

Fractured - Capharnaum
Some great guitar work. Nothing particularly interesting here.

Eaten Back To Life - Cannibal Corpse
Enjoyable slice of early death metal, without over-reliance on shock value. Uninspired.

Heavy Metal: The Score - Elmer Bernstein
A great, long sought-after Bernstein treasure Really, there are none. This is a deserved release

Butchered At Birth - Cannibal Corpse
Ha ha, it's horrible. Poor performance spoiled even further by terrible production.
