Mali is a country south of Libia and it has a great tradition of great musicians.

Amadou and Miriam met at a school for blind people. They found their mutual love for music and began playing. Manu Chao, the famous singer and also producer heard fo them and decided to produce their first album.

Dimanche a Bamako (Sunday at Bamako) is the song of the most famous song of this album and it repeats a refrain where they basically say that Sunday is the day of the weddings in Bamako.

Lyrics are normally happy and tell us the simple lifes of people in Mali. The rythms mix African instruments and guitars and drums.

Senegal fast food is a song produced with Manu Chao (a nice video can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShzhsPD3K0E) and is the song where the influence of Manu Chao is more predominant. There is clearly an anti globalization message in it.

But in the end, it is not the politics, but the music which really makes this a great album
