Xtrmntr - Primal Scream
by rmallinson - written on 30/01/01 (Very useful, 34 readings)
Rating:
political electronic-rock fusion album, featuring a wide mixture of musical techniques from sampling and digital distortion to good old guitars. Bobby Gillespie and the other members of Primal Scream have taken the influences of a wide range of musical influences, and has progressed from Vanishing Point. the album opens with the track 'Kill all hippies' which has a nice drum layer and a great bassline. It then moves into the seriously hard electronic Accelerator. Gillespies strongly left wing anti-militaristic opinions come across most strongly in 'Swastika Eyes' and Exterminator' the title track, with lines like 'no civil ...

this album. On the whole, this album will have tracks on it that nearly everyone will recognise, even if they do not know much about Primal Scream . This album is nearly ten years old but it's just as good today as it was then. For those who are out of their teens, this will prove to be a sentimental journey back to those years when you were a little younger, a little more carefree and you knew how to dance (or you thought you did)! ...

Screamadelica - Primal Scream
by Fatlad - written on 04/07/00 (Useful, 14 readings)
Rating:
Well, in the earley ninties musical boundaries were defined, and you liked one sort of music. That was untill this lot came aloung. This is the sound of a band on something, and enjoying it. Starting with the with a acoustic tune that feels good, but a little different it can't prepare you for what is ttoo come. A sonic assualt noless! The bass takes over from the second song into the album, and the result is astounding. The bass pounds and effects and samples come to the fore. But this is STILL an indie album. The samples aren't of the instruments, they are still played by the group, and bobby Gillespie's vocals are infrequent, but effective. They're not ...
