This album is definately one of the best of my collection. It is varied and the eclectic mix of tempos, along with clever lyrics and flawless melodies come together to produce a pop masterpiece. The strongest songs are You Showed Me and Imaginary Friends. This album has a song for every occasion. The best feeling is knowing that this LP can cheer me up, no matter how sad i feel. This album will stand the test of time, and , if there is any justice in the world, be seen as a pop classic of the nineties ... Read the complete review

This, the fourth original album in the Lightning Seeds series was released prior to the 'best of' album(1997) in 1996. It doesn't include the massive hit '3 Lions', but it certainly doesn't have any lack of little gems. Songs such as 'What If...', 'Sugar Coated Iceberg' and 'Ready or Not', to name a couple, are some examples of the calibre of song present on the album. Ian Broudie has once again stuck to his golden theme of non-intrusive guitars mixed with some 60s influence to create songs that draw you in to listen to them. You can't just listen to one Lightning Seeds song, you have to listen to another, then ... Read the complete review

I've seem the Lighting Seeds live on several occassions and each time they have played what I consider to be the highlight of this album (Sugar Coated Iceberg. All the songs are pure pop of the finest quality from one of Britains most underated songwriters and lyricists. When Ian Broudie and Terry Hal formed to write Sense and Pure all those years ago they couldn't have envisaged the effect they would have on the up and coming musicians of the day. Eash time I listen to this album I cant stop form tapping my fingers to the annoyingly catchy rythams and hook lines of the aforementioned Sugar Coated Iceberg, Like You Do and Ready or not. ... This album, out of all the lightening seeds albums, must surely rank as one of my favourites, quality songs are never far away on a lightening seeds album, and this one kicks off with one of their best songs to date, imaginary friends which is about someone with no real friends so he just imagines them, very good song. This album apart from the singles, What if, Sugar Coated Iceberg, Ready or not and You showed me also has a plethora of album tracks that match the singles in quality. My 2 faves have to be, Touch and go, and Waiting for today to happen, the latter was actually included on their greatest hits album, giving a reproduction by Ian Brodie(the lead ... The Lightning Seeds' 1997 release in the album charts is almost the equal of their prior release Jollification. I listened to this album many times upon driving home from work during summer evenings that year, and it is an album I really like. Dizzy Heights is an apt title for this album, as it was released less than a year after the tremendous success that Ian Broudie enjoyed due to his collaboration with Frank Skinner and David Baddiel, the football anthem "Three Lions". However it seems that it did not fully satisfy Broudie, as the lyrics to "What if..." seem to indicate. A song showing that Broudie still wanted to go further, the line ... Read the complete review
