Advantages: LAYLA
Disadvantages: SOME FILLER
DON'T BELIEVE THE TRUTH is the title of OASIS' album.
The indie rock band from Manchester include eleven tracks on the album sung by Noel and Liam Gallagher.
The opening song TURN UP THE SUN showcases the band's talents with strong vocals supported wonderfully by the guitar and drums to produce a cracking opener.
MUCKY FINGERS is a fast paced song that is brought to life by the guitar as it ups the tempo.
LYLA is my favourite song on the album as it should be cranked up when heard. Liam's vocals are at their best and the chorus of Lyla being repeated sticks in your head because of the wonderful lyrics.
LOVE LIKE A BOMB takes the tempo down a beat or two though the music still sounds cool with it's mellowness and smoothness in the vocals.
THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING IDLE is a slow song sung by Noel. It contains great lyrics that tell a wonderful story with some fantastic backing instruments to help the story flow.
THE MEANING OF SOUL builds slowly to the chorus and then comes into life mostly thanks to the guitar work.
GUESS GOD THINKS I'M ABEL is a strange song that concentrates mainly on the lyrics which means the music loses it's edge.
PART OF THE QUEUE and ABELL WILL RING are two songs that are average and nothing more than album filler.
KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE is quite an upbeat song with a positive message sung with great passion and real energy.
The album concludes with LET THERE BE LOVE as close as you'll get to a ballad from the band with some nice lyrics and heartfelt vocals and instrument playing.
Overall, this is a decent album from the band. There are no real classics, though this isn't much bad provided. The vocals and instruments are solid as ever and the lyrics are on the whole good. There's a good mixture of fast and slower paced songs for everyone to enjoy.
Avaliable from AMAZON at £7.98 this is a solid album.
