Melissa - Mercyful Fate

Premium Review Falsetto too much for me but good raw album (303 words)

Rating:

Melissa is the debut album by King Diamond led Danish metal band Mercyful Fate it was released in 1983 and is considered along with an early EP "Nuns Have No Fun" to have effected the future of black metal largely as it consists of "evil" material - that is to say, anti-christian messages due to the album revolving around the story of a skull "Melissa" which King Diamond carried on stage until it disappeared at a concert, the album in Alice Cooper style follows the life of a protagonist who has lost his partner to a priest, the album goes through various personalities - confusion, sadness, hope, anger and a lust for revenge. Back on form, Classic tracks in front of a 250,000-strong crowd, Also available on DVD Three guitarists is a little crowded sometimesDoesn't represent some of the best materialLong song groupings get tedious

Lots of bangers Nothing specific

Excellent guitars and vocals, Fun, upbeat heavy metal, Departure from Black Sabbath Some weak linksNot to everyone's taste

Surprisingly non-indulgent. Surprisingly commercial and lacking in theatrics.

Heavy Metal - 2007

Surprising classics from the band's golden years. More recent rubbish on disc 2.

The Man Comes Around: American IV - Johnny Cash
Wonderful voice and choice of songs Not for people who depress easily

Yours Truly, Angry Mob - Kaiser Chiefs
A couple of half decent offerings. The album as a whole is distinctly average.

Panic Prevention - Jamie T
Alternative, exciting music A bit 'different' for some

Other Side Of The Mirror - Stevie Nicks
Some great songs, good mix of country inspired rock and electro 90's style of soft rock synth style. Not many; avoid the high prices.

Nomad The Warrior - Carlo Siliotto - Soundtrack
Great mix of ethnic and traditional à la Maurice Jarre Album really bitty with not enough decent development of themes

Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks
Most songs appear timeless, good bargain prices, Some great songs. Not many. Some songs contain airy fairy lyrics.

Batman - Soundtrack
The most powerful Batman score ever composed; an Elfman classic all the way So what if it isn't the most sophisticated score in the world?

A Weekend In The City - Bloc Party
A very good second album, some really well made tracks takes a bit longer to get into than Silent Alarm

How To Save A Life - The Fray
how to save a life the rest

Myths Of The Near Future - Klaxons
