Advantages: loads of hits
Disadvantages: bland cover
In those days of course, he was a sexgod with his flowing blonde locks and his white smile...nowadays he makes the odd cameo here and there and is trying as hard as he can to sell his latest album of covers. This is what it's all about though:
Who is he:
Australian actor and singer, found fame in Neighbours before launching a solo music career under the guidance of SAW. He had a string of top ten hits before they started to dry up.
On this album:
'Too Many Broken Hearts' became his first solo number one, an awe inspiring uplifting chorus, despite the bleak lyrics, a great opener to the album. I love 'Every Day' which is a positive pop song about his growing love for someone special.
Jason does high octane pop in the form of 'RSVP' with a superb catchy chorus which plays over an over and will get lodged in your head. 'Nothing Can Divide Us' was Jason's first single and is another uptempo number full of high spirited vocals, though at that stage his voice sounded a little rough round the edges tonally.
If you're after something slow, his take on 'Sealed With A Kiss' is carried off with understated dignity and a highlight of the album. For pure slush head to his duet with Kylie, which will get those memories flooding back.
Critique:
A worthy hits album, all the big hits are on it and some album tracks too, so you get good value for money. Remind yourself how pop was back in the late nineties!
Overall: Great pop album
Summary: smashing
