I was once asked the question, If I was stranded on a desert island, but I was allowed to have 5 CD's with me, what would they be? Strange question but true! Although when I think of this question I can still remember what the answers were originally however over the years they have somewhat changed, although Roxette's album Don't Bore Us, Get To The Chorus still remains in that Top 5 albums that I would have selected even though its over ten years old and they don't seem to make any new music any more, I still find myself listening to it on a regular basis.
Roxette for those of you that don't know are Swedish and the band is made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. The pair go back as far as 1979, the year that I was born, however they were both perforning in different bands, and also having a go at being solo until they joined forces and created Roxette.
Although its not called their Greatest Hits, Don't Bore Us Get to the Chorus is a compilation of Roxettes greatest hits and there were many of them. Over the years they had become famous worldwide and had conquered many countries that are normally a bands dream of doing, but not all succeed.

The album itself is not flawless, it does have a couple of weak links in it, but everything can't be perfect. The variety of music is based on pop / rock, pretty mellow rock that is liked by most.
JUne Afternoon kicks off the album, really I think this was probably a bad idea as June Afternoon is one of those weak links and if it was a kind of greatest hits album, you could potentially turn it off after the first song. For some reason this particular song reminds me of the circus as there are some very strange noises encountered in this track that don't seem to go down well with me. The lyric also are a bit strange and don't make sense, whether this is a Swedish thing, i'm not sure, but I wouldn't have chosen this track to open the album.
You Don't UNderstand Me is the 2nd track on the album, its a ballad with a very soft tempo in the background until it kicks into the chorus. The lyrics in this track, you can associate yourself with them. YOu don't hear Per in this track, its a solo that Marie does and a fantastic track.
The Look - Following on from a ballad this is a great track to go next on the album. Starting with the electric guitar and Per jumping in with his husky voice, the vocal between both of them work very well. Its a track that most people will be familiar with, very catchy and a favourite of mine. Good driving tune!
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Trying to Make Little By Little, Try to Make It Bit By Bit on My Own. Dressed for Success is about making a success out of yourself, all by yourself with no one helping you. Another cathcy pop tune that did extremely well when it was released.
Listen To Your Heart starts with a piano intro until Marie kicks in. I get a cold shiver down my spine when I hear this track and is by far one of my favourites. She sings Listen To Your Heart amazingly. IT was covered two years ago by a new dance band, and Iwas horrified when I heard it, and they had demoralised what was an excellent track.
Dangerous - same kind of style song, however I never used to hear this song much so I am not sure how well this track did. Per and Marie do a duet on this track which works really well.
It Must Have Been Love is probably one of the main songs that Roxette are famous for, because its one of those classic love songs and also was featured in the film Pretty Woman at a major part, so majority of people will probably associate this song with that film. Its one of those tracks that when you are watching amovie and the song is appropriate to the scene, it can easily make your eyes well up. The lyrics are great, just how you would put it if you had been in love and split up with someone.
Fading Like A Flower - This recently has got to be my favourite track on the album. Recently a friend of mine was listening to this album in her car and text me saying that she was listening to this track and he reminded her of me and my new boyfriend. I wasn't looking for relationship with anyone, however I became atrracted to someone and was initially scared to commit but wanted to
"Every Time I See You I Try To Hide Away, But When We Meet It Seems Like I Can't Let Go"
Its a upbeat ballad, wth great lyrics and has got be one of the best tracks on the album.
Crash Boom Bang - Initially I thought was sort of title is that for a song and when I listened to it, I thought the same, however this track has really grown on me over the years. It might seem like a strange title, however if you sit there and listen to the lyrics, its a story of its own, pretty mellow thorugh the first two verses and the chorus, until the 2nd chorus, when it slowly kicks in and boom!!! it kicks in properly sending shudders down my spine because of the power of Marie's voice and the lyrics she is singing is absolutely superb.
Overall Don't Bore Us Get To The Chorus is by far one of my favourite albums, its very hard to get hold of a copy of this album, however if you have the opportunity, buy it, its fantastic.
