Advantages: their best album?
Disadvantages: none
Dookie was the third studio album from the band green day. He songs are very fast, very upbeat and very punk, most people look back on this album as their best ever work, and I am also some what into that, it was a time when they were still experimenting with music, a time when they were still very fresh and new and it was a terrific album because of that.
The first song burnout is a great fast number to kick the album off with a bang. Its not the best song in terms of lyrics or instruments however it is a safe little song and it's a good listen.
For me the album doesn't get into full flow until track 5, well track four before it Longview is fairly good but when welcome to paradise kicks in you know your listening to a great album. Everything about this song is perfect, it is catchy, punky and just a great song.
And then it comes, the best song off the album, perhaps the best song green day have ever released. Basket case is now such a huge song and it did so well, everyone knows it and its just a really great song. I think the reason is that its just got so much energy, almost as if you can feel there performing it when there singing.
F.O.D is the last song off the album, it's a little different from the others in that it starts very slowly with only Billie singing and him playing an acoustic guitar which is rare for green day. But its just great to hear him sing without all the other instruments as he does have a great sounding voice. The song does really get going though and its quite a rocking song in the end. If you listen right to the end of this there is a kind of hidden comedy track on the end of this one. All by myself is just added on at the end.
