Down On The Upside - Soundgarden

I'm surprised that this album was produced after Superunknown. Basically this is more a return to louder rock roots and has little of the sheer brilliance that made superunknown so good. Don't take me wrong this is a great album, really really good and I suggest if you like rock music you go and buy it now, well whenever you feel like but that doesn't sound quite as good does it? Anyway, this album reflects the fact the the band have grown and changed since Louder than Love and maybe is the album they would hav eproduced in 1994 if they'd had the knowledge, skills and life experience that they'd gained by '96 or whenever it was this came ...

This is probably the most commerical Soundgarden album (alongside superunknown...which isn't exactly unknown....) but nevertheless it is amazing all the same. It isn't my favourite of all their albums (badmotorfinger is) but this doesn't matter, Soundgarden are an amazing band and this showed through on all of their albums. With quality tracks such as ty cobb, applebite, pretty noose, zero chance and blow up the outside world this is a classic album and should be a part of every soundgarden fan's record collection.
