In days gone by, when we lived in a happier, more innocent time, if something was popular on TV it would spawn any number of tacky spin-offs. Probably the king of spin-offs was the novelty single. Nowadays you instead get compilation albums of soundtracks, or even worse, albums "themed" around a specific show. I suppose this is a logical symptom of the decline in importance of the singles chart. The novelty single is almost completely dead now. Anyway, in the mid-sixties Dr Who was pretty darned popular, especially when it featured The Daleks. And there were, it turns out, rather a lot of novelty singles and other pieces of music cashing in on its ...
