Folkearth is a somewhat over-ambitious Viking metal project incorporating writers and session musicians from various countries worldwide, though producing a sound that's distinctly Scandinavian. 'Drakkars in the Mist' is the only album I've heard from their rapidly accelerating discography, and it does show distinct signs of being a little rushed and half-hearted in places, though still carries the classic folk-tinged Viking metal sound originally pioneered by the likes of Bathory. The folk influence here is strong, with six songs given over to entirely acoustic folk performances absent of metal elements, and the metal tracks themselves never stray too far ...
