Advantages: ...........wow, it's got every song........and more!!

For a film synopsis read my other review. I got the soundtrack the day after I saw the film cos' I just thought the music was excelent.

It's a two disc CD with all of the songs from the movie 'dreamgirls'. Firstly it was noce to see all of the trcaks on the one CD, unlike other musical films that cash in on two albums (think Moulin Rouge!!)

As a soundtrack it does excatly what it should. You get all of the great tracks on two CD's in the order they appear in the film so if you have seen the film you know where the song comes in the plot and at the ends there are a few bonus items that you don't get on the DVD inclusing another version of 'Patience' and 'One Night Only'

Is it worth the money? I think I paid about £8 in teco at the time so yes, it is worth the money. But I find that I skip tracks that I don't like as much such as 'I Miss you Old Friend' and the studio version of 'When I First Saw you' but this depends on my mood. One good song you can skip is the 'opera-esque' number 'We Are A Family' (see my DVD review)

If you liked the movie then you will like this soundtrack. The lyrics are crystal clear and by listening to it without visusal you realsie just how good they are and I have found myself having a better understanding of parts of the movie.

Summary: if you liked the film you'll love this.
