 ... as is truly amazing, the lyrics are just top notch and it's a very nice song at the beginning and then it just gets better and better as it goes along, gets more instruments and gets faster and faster, until it turns into a proper fast punk song, its great. Drunken Lullabies was released in 2002 but the band Flogging Molly who is an Irish American punk band who are a seven piece band compiled of mostly Irish men but also some Americans too, however the singer does have a very distinct Irish voice. The first song off the album, called after the album, drunken lullabies starts off really well, it starts kind of slow but then gets really fast. Then the singing comes in and even though the songs is really fast it still has a kind of slow sad thing about it, however the contrast is that the instruments are so up beat. Lots of bad jokes start with that line but not so many good bands can say the same. In this case the Irishman in question is an ex heavy rock guitarist and the pub happens to be in Los Angeles but the line still sort of fits. Flogging Molly's main man Dave King has come a long way to finally get to the place that he wanted to be. Having been brought up on the folk music of his home land, he rebelled as all youngsters do and hit the road to play heavy rock. Having played along side Motorheads ex-guitarist Eddie Clark in Fastway and then invited to America to join super group Katmandu he eventually found himself unemployed and cleaning toilets for a living far from home. ...  Read the complete review
