For those of you who have not had the pleasure of watching Dude, Where's my car? yet, you'll be pleased to hear that the video is being released on Monday 27th August. Go and rent it! It is an excellent film - ridiculously funny and just an altogether feel good film. I was mad enough to go and see it three times at the cinema and i already have my name first on the waiting list of my local video store to hire it on Monday night. Sad, i know, but its not often i find a film i really like. I can't explain what it is thats so good about it. The film wasn't very well publicised and didn't get great write ups but i went to see it anyway and it was nothing like i expected it to be. It's amazing! And one of the best things about it is the soundtrack! The songs in it are great and really create the crazy atmosphere of the film. I wish i'd been a member of dooyoo longer because i think this is a great summer album and i should have reviewed it while the whole summer say lay ahead of us. Oh well. Buy it for next summer! And i guess it will be a cheery album to listen to during those long cold summer months. Nice and cheery! The bands featured on the soundtrack were unknown to me, except for Grand Theft Audio. This was making me slightly unsure about buying it but i remembered i'd loved the music in the film so i guessed they would be great. And i was right! Grand Theft Audio have two of their songs featured - Stoopid Ass (one of their better known tracks) and We Luv U (which i'd never heard before but is just as good). Both songs are the more 'rock' tracks of the album, although they're still pretty crazy lyrics wise. The rest of the songs are all pretty mad - Ween have a song called 'Voodoo Lady' and it is one of the funniest songs i've ever heard. Its just such a silly song! LiveonRelease have a song called 'I'm afraid of Britney Spears' which is
rather humourous, but doesn't really live up to the rest of the album. Still a great title for a song though! Young MC's 'Bust a Move' is the main song of the film - the whole song is included as the two main characters act along in time with the song, as it fits into the scene. The other songs on the album, 'Playmate of the Year' by Zebrahead, 'Lighting the Way' by Superdrag, 'Authenticity' by Harvey Danger, 'Listen to the Music' by Dangerman, 'So Cal Loco' by Sprung Monkey, 'Lunatic' by Silt and 'Sorry about your luck' by Spy, are all good as well. I can honestly say that its one of the best and funniest albums i've purchased in my life. Even though i wouldn't have said it was my style of music, i couldn't stop smiling when i was listening to it. I'd really highly recommend buying this soundtrack as its guaranteed to make you smile at least, even if you don't really like the style.
