I bought this with a few other cradle cds and this was the first one i played. The cover attracted me to play it first. What i heard shown me what everyone meant when they said their latest release "Thornography" was nothing compared to their old music. About the album This was Cradle's third release and second full length album. It was loosely inspired by the writing of Sheridan Le Fanu and although vampires are not mentioned by name, the songs hint at a theme of vampirism. Tracks "Humana Inspired to Nightmare" - A great introduction. Put together very well, it creates the atmosphere needed to get into the ... Read the complete review

Dusk... and her Embrace is sometimes regarded as Cradle of Filth's magnum opus and for good reason as well. On this album, the band take cues from the epic sonic nature of some Norwegian black metal bands like Emperor but inject their own sense of gothic romanticism influenced by literature and give extreme metal a very British edge whilst doing so. This is evident from the first track "Humana Inspired to Nightmare" a tension-building song with dark sweeping strings and a haunting arrangement which segues into the alternating depressive subdued nature and riff and scream-dependent harshness of the appropriately titled "Heaven Torn ... Cradle of Filth’s second full-length album, ‘Dusk… And Her Embrace’ sees the English gothic metal band at its creative and technical best, and one of the classic albums of the genre. ‘Dusk’ is far more symphonic than their previous releases due to the introduction of Damien Gregori on keyboards (are you sure that’s your real name?) and the classic guitar duo of Stuart Antsis and Gian Pyres. The band’s following album, 1998’s ‘Cruelty and the Beast,’ would draw heavily upon this release both musically and thematically, but lack the tight musicianship and nifty graveyard atmosphere. Dani Filth pens the exquisite lyrics to this semi-concept album focused on ... Read the complete review

It may not sound exactly charming but if you're into cradle of filth like me then you'll be hooked. It has a mixture of there songs which are also on there most recent CD(cruelity and the beast). it won't appeal to quite alot of people, it is an aquired taste. If you are in to guitars and good drum beats cradle of filth have it in all there songs(if you can really call them that) I learned that the best time to listen to it is when your in a really bad mood. WHY? well it involves alot of screaming and instead of you going into a screaming fit they do, it relaxes. Wierd you may think but oddly and unbelievably true!! I feel ... Read the complete review

This albumn is obviously not going to be to everyones taste due to the gothic metal genre that it belongs to. For those people that enjoy this type of music, I believe that this albumn is a must as it contains the regular black orchestral sounds mixed with machine gun drumming and long guitar solos as well as Dani Filth conitnuing to perform in his own goulish manner singing lyrics of love and horror. An ideal albumn to play on a dark winters night! ... Read the complete review
