Rating:
fans see Modern Times as a far weaker outing (fools), and this evolution of style in the new millennium really does show what an enduring and great artist Bob Dylan is. The main themes on the album have often been seen as a combination of love songs and credit crunch tracks, but in response to the latter, I understand that from Dylan s background in terms of politics, this would seem appropriate. But I would disagree, as this is built up as a blues record, with the CD coming with an early 1900s vinyl style front, and in the blues, living in a depression hit era is hugely prevalent due to the time frame for the major early blues artists, and this is simply a ...

No Direction Home - Bob Dylan - Soundtrack
by simoncardwell - written on 28/05/09 (Useful, 6 readings)
Rating:
Series releases. Released to coincide with, & double up as the soundtrack, it works perfectly with Martin Scorsese s wonderful documentary of the same name. It covers Bob Dylan from his early career through till 1966, which is the time frame covered in the documentary. Like the film, it features a mixture of live recordings, outtakes, alternate version, demos & home recordings. Assembled in chronological order, the record presents Dylan s peak in an offbeat way, filling in the gaps & showing you sides you new sides to the man. There is a stunning Don t Think Twice It s Alright included here, as well as rare versions of Song To Woody & Woofy ...

Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid - Bob Dylan
by Robin_Hod12 - written on 23/02/09 (Very useful, 124 readings)
Rating:
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is the soundtrack to the film of the same name, consisting of track s written and recorded by Bob Dylan . It followed on from New Morning, with many calling it an amateurish release, not pertaining to the heights of his previous earlier works, but for me this is far from the truth. As with many soundtrack albums it is made up of mainly instrumental material, with a few tracks that can be considered to be songs. It is often criticised for this aspect, and for the fact that it provides three versions of in effect the same song, Billy 1, Billy 4 and Billy 7, done in opposing styles. But there has also been much praise for Knockin on Heaven s ...
