Advantages: Different tracks, different styles, some catchy lyrics still

Disadvantages: rather raw sounding

Earth A.D. is the last album by original line-up of Misfits, released in 1983 there was a distinct change in sound and the new darkened approach won over as many fans as it lost. What the album lacks in catchy Ramones like punk, it makes up for with invention. This album is the link between Misfits and Danzig's 2nd band Samhain, fortunately for me I'm a big fan of Samhain.

Gone is the bubblegum sound and talk of aliens and B-movies as the band plough onwards with a rough, dark and to some extent brutal sound. The imagery conjured up by the lyrics is no longer ghost stories in the playground, it's full on gore! Despite this - all of Danzig's bands have the same thing in common and that's catchyness and this album is non the different. This is the graveyard, you will be happy to grin in!

This album has a raw speed metal sound to it largely replacing the previously punky sound of the band. Tracks like "Die, Die, Die My Darling" and "Mommy Can I Go Out To Kill Tonight" totally embrace the old style sound vocally though whilst "We Bite" has more of an Oi sound.

Earth A.D. isn't to everyones liking and whilst it's not as good as Samhain's November Coming Fire or Misfits' Static Age, it's still a damn good album with some excellent tunes.

1. "Earth A.D." - 2:09
2. "Queen Wasp" - 1:32
3. "Devilock" - 1:26
4. "Death Comes Ripping" - 1:53
5. "Green Hell" - 1:53
6. "Mommy, Can I Go Out & Kill Tonight" - 2:03
7. "Wolfs Blood" - 1:13
8. "Demonomania" - 0:45
9. "Bloodfeast" - 2:29
10. "Hellhound" - 1:16
11. "Die, Die My Darling" - 3:11
12. "We Bite" - 1:15

Summary: The end of the true Misfits
