Easy Action - Alice Cooper

On the back of the slight breakthrough with Pretties for You, Alice Cooper and original band set out to release their 2nd album - Easy Action, a 1970 album which wouldn't have the success that Pretties for You did. It still has an experimental and psychedelic sound to it, Alice's voice is gravelly, the lyrics are clever and unassuming. The titles of tracks like "Mr & Misdemeanor" are even wittily written. Some songs would go on to feature in much later concerts - particularly Refrigerator Heaven, which would later often be combined with Cold Ethyl in shows. Easy Action was Alice Cooper’s second album and it shows the group starting to find the style that would bring them so much success. The songs on the album cover a number of styles with the common denominator being the sinister undertones of the lyrics. “Still No Air”, with its interesting take on West Side Story lyrics, contains within it an idea that the group would develop later on the School’s Out album. Of all the songs “Return Of The Spiders” is the most obvious sign of the direction and the style of their future hit singles.
