Advantages: Brilliant lead up to all chorus', Great lyrics and music, 12 top class tracks
Disadvantages: Only 45 minutes long!
Released on the 23rd of April this year, Echo Park is the latest and most successful album from the rock band Feeder. It contains the number 5 hit single, Buck Rogers and the brilliant Seven Days In The Sun single which made 14 in the charts. Feeder are Grant Nicholas (Singer and guitarist) Jon Lee (Drummer) and Taka Hirose (Bass guitar). There is a good range of music style on this album, like there are really fast up beat tracks like Bug, Buck Rogers and Seven Days In The Sun, and there are the slower emotional type songs like Oxygen and Satellite News. The lyrics in the songs are usually fantastic but there are one or two tracks where the lyrics make no sense at all! Feeder are renowned for the fantastic way that a lot of their songs build up to the chorus, and for the structure of their songs. Now I will describe each song in a little more detail. Track Listing: 1.) Standing On The Edge The tempo of this song is right in the middle of fast and slow. It is the perfect opening track to the album and has some very good lyrics at times. It's very cool and gritty. 2.) Buck Rogers Everyone must know this song! It made 5 in the charts and is Feeder's most successful song so far. This is the song that really brought Feeder into the public eye. It is a quick song with a fantastic chorus that sounds really cool. 3.) Piece By Piece A different style to Feeder's usual work but a great song with a solid drum background, brilliant guitar work and good lyrics. It is a slower tempo but a really nice, slightly emotional track. 4.) Seven Days In The Sun A brilliant follow up to Buck Rogers, Seven Days In The Sun is a fast up beat track with some very amusing lyrics and euphonic noise. This song got to 14 in the charts. 5.) We Can't Rewind Another really great song, this track has great build up to the chorus and minimal guitar
work prior to it allowing Grant Nicholas' lyrics to stand out more. 6.) Turn An excellent ballad type song which is very well orchestrated and powerful. The lyrics are a little deeper than normal. 7.) Choke Another very amusing song with the heavier guitar sound. Quite up beat and great to listen to. 8.) Oxygen Many say this is the best song on the album. It is very slow, emotional and moving, and is very well crafted. Again, it has a great build up to the chorus and has very penetrating lyrics. 9.) Tell All Your Friends My favourite song to sing along to, this track has a brilliant beat and fantastic lyrics that flow perfectly and rhyme really well. This is one of the best tracks on the album. 10.) Under The Weather A brilliant up beat song with a cool baseline. It has some very funny lyrics about him feeling like he's been hit by a bus and then asking for some Neurofen Plus! 11.) Satellite News A slower paced song with a good rhythm and some nice lyrics. Another good song off a brilliant album. 12.) Bug A great steady beat and brilliant guitar but the words don't make any sense at all! There is a good lyric effect though so I guess it makes up for the dodgy words! Brilliant song to end the album. There we have it. I've tried my best to describe my favourite album but I always struggle describing music! The reason I bought this album was because I liked their singles Buck Rogers and Seven Days In The Sun so much. Echo Park can be picked up for around £10. It has a very bright front and back cover with quite a strange design on it in mainly blue. The only down point to the album is that there are only 45 minutes on it! Cheers, Ian :D

- 18/11/01 Hmmm, might be tempted seeing as I'm hooked on the track that plays on the PS2's GT3. Forgotten what it's called, but they play it on XFM. Good op BTW. |
