Advantages: Calming, thought provoking lyrics

Disadvantages: Some dreary topics to sing about.

The album Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace was released in 2007 by the Foo Fighters, and is one of my personal favourites. The albums catchy rock songs are well sung and the guitarist is particularly skilled. These are the kind of songs you can listen to anywhere, anytime and that you'll find it hard to tire of.

The Pretender is probably the most well known song on the album and is also the most "Rocky" song. Its slow beginning and vocals are a great introduction to what is yet to come. It is easy to get carried away in with the "tune" of the song but the lyrics are very meaningful if listened to carefully.

My favourite song on the album in definitely "Summers end" I love the chorus, and it's out-of-place cheeriness - it's definitely one worth skipping to. "Cheer up, boys (your make up is running)" is also catchy...but more for the tune than for the lyrics. It's the sort of song you'll be left humming all day (if not out loud then in your head).

"Statues" also has a catchy tune, it's the sort of song you could swear that you've heard before but don't know where (if that makes sense). It's quite a smooth song which is a big contrast to most of the other songs on the album.

Artwork wise the album sleeve is full of interesting images that are hard to perceive but as far as I can make out they all have something to do with alcoholism, death or decapitation (cheery subject matters!).
The cover of the album looks like a cross between a bomb and a light bulb, although perhaps it's a instrument for measuring earthquakes?!?!?!

Overall this album is DEFINITELY well worth a listen. The songs are catchy calming and mellow but yet some have a speedy tempo to liven them up.

Summary: A great album definitely worth a listen!

I haven't heard much of their newer stuff, but this sounds like it's worthing getting hold of. Nice review :-)
