Advantages: Catchy songs, no disappointing songs, variation of styles, shows Foo Fighters talent
Disadvantages: None
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is the sixth studio album from successful American rock band, Foo Fighters. After their previous album, "In Your Honour" contained a second disc of acoustic tracks, Echoes...brings Foo Fighters back to their normal hard rock sound.
The album opens with the first single off this album, "The Pretender." A hard-hitting, catchy song that you cannot help but either headbang or sing along to. The Pretender contains the true Foo Fighters sound that they have established for themselves over the past ten years or so, and is destined to be a crowd favourite at their gigs.
However, perhaps one of the best songs on the album has to be the second track, "Let It Die." After opening the album with a real exciting, loud track, Foo Fighters opt for a slower starting song that eventually builds into a loud, heavy rock masterpiece. Many of the songs on this album successfully manage to do this, meaning that Foo Fighters are able to vary their songs from loud rock to more softer, acoustic pieces without it sounding too varied.
Fans of Foo Fighter's previous albums should notice that this album does contain several standout tracks that could go alongside favourites such as "Everlong" or "Learn To Fly". Tracks such as the already noted The Pretender, and also Long Road To Ruin are catchy, singalong tracks that most fans should appreciate. None of the tracks are disappointing, the variation between styles of the songs manage to allow listeners to choose a song depending on their mood.
Dave Grohl not only demonstrates his excellent songwriting talents, but also his musical abilities. Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace sees Grohl playing the piano in several tracks, as well as his usual guitar and vocals.
Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is an album worthy of multiple listens, and is a welcome addition to the Foo Fighters discography.
Summary: A sixth album from Foo Fighters that fails to disappoint.
