Eight Legged Groove machine is the Wonder Stuff's debut and first surfaced back in 1988. Miles Hunt was the bushy haired frontman who went on to have a fairly successful stint as a VJ on MTV's Alternative Nation. The 'Eight Legged Groove Machine' is 13 years old and it is starting to display signs of wear and tear. The production is tinny most of the time and a some of the tunes are not worthy enough to warrant much attention. The album spawned a few notable singles however. My first copy of this album was over 10 years ago - a very rough recording on cassette - and I played it so often it became unplayable! Sounds like a teenage phase? You'd think so, however only a few weeks ago I was listening to it on my new CD, so either I've had a very long teenage phase (possible!), or this is one of the best albums ever (very probable!). It's a great mix of rock and ballad, all with a rough guitar edge and wonderfully simple lyrics. Particular favourites are "It's yer money I'm after baby", a catchy tune with a streak of honesty that a cynic like me appreciates, and "A wish away", a completely ...
