Advantages: Good Music

Disadvantages: Bit on the steep side

The White Stripes have a cool history, rising from nothing in Detrioit, like the Strokes who burst onto the scene. We all loved White Blood Cells, as it was new, and absolutley amazing. But Elephant is one more giant leap for the world of rock music if not all music. Elephant has all The White Stripes characteristics, bass riffs, guitar riffs and the vocals and drumming of Jack and Meg. I start to feel proud to love rock music of all sorts, as it is shown in Elephant. As I write this, I listen to the album for a 20th time since I have had it. 2 days. I divulge.
Seven nation Army has the usual bass riffs which is not at all a bad thing. The riffs are all done with octave pedals, which makes a note a whole lot lower. The tune is new, yet so old. It is very apocalyptic with the song talking about all these armys. Jack White use his huge vocal talent in this song. Meg again, as reliable as ever, but she seems in the background most of the time. There is no chorus words, the music does it all for you. But the song gets ever so slightly longwinded by the end, but that is nothing to judge this album on. The other songs will knock you out, make you swallow your tongue, and then have coma dreams about them for a week. They are a good mix of rock, slow songs about sadness or love, and one or two that could have been done when they were very exicted or happy.
Some are completeley original, that you would never have thought possible. There's No Home For You Here has guitar and vocal parts that will send shivers up your spine, not becasue they are scary, but for another reason I cannot understand. The music played live must be a must see event of the decade, which it is being hailed as, but tickets are like golddust in the UK. The only other place they are palying this year is in the USA, and one gig in Germany, I think.
Ball and biscuit is long but worth the guitar solos. I cant really understand the jist
of the song, but it is good enough not to care.
I Dont Know What To Do With Myself has some of them guitar and vocal combos that again send shivers in all directions in your brain and spine.
This will be one of the albums of the year, except thse people who listen to black and rap music, which is dull and monotonous, who will probably never hear of The White Stripes, and will never be able to appreciate them. Otherwise, the rest of us will cherish this album, and want to spend the rest of our lies with it

ACTUALLY;
1)Soul music is uplifting, Usher etc. are not. they ARE monotonous and boring.
2)I thought Detroit was in New York.
3)By computers I meant the octave pedal he uses for 7 Nation Army. Sorry Odinsay you fuckhead. Stuck arrogant fag.
4) Sorry, I was in a hurry when I wrote the review, hence the lack of paragraphs.
5) Yes it is amazingly powerful you loser. Nirvana were a bunch of drugged up Canadians, and Stone Roses are a smelly group of Scallies.
6) Stripped Down and sleazy? you should know, ass clown.
So screw you all, get a life.

Apart from that, thank you for leaving your comments the rest of you.

Good album, good band....but massivley over-rated. No way is this as powerful as the music produced by Nirvana, The Stone Roses or the Smiths.

We are still waiting for the next great band.
