One of the wonderful things about Elvis Presley is that amongst the almost 900 songs he officially recorded, there is a really wide variety of music. From country music, to rock and roll, to ballads, to children's songs, there really is something there to please everyone.

Amongst his many songs Elvis recorded a number of Christmas-related songs, which his record company seem to see fit to re-release every year on different albums. This one though, ELVIS' CHRISTMAS ALBUM is the original. It was originally released in 1957 when Elvis had only been really known for a short period of time. It must have seemed odd to have such a rebel singing Christmas music, but he really made the songs sound wonderful. Carols such as O LITTLE TOWN OF BETHLEHEM and SILENT NIGHT sit next to more raucous songs such as SANTA CLAUS IS BACK IN TOWN.

This really is a great album for this time of year, when we are preparing for Christmas.
