During Elvis lifetime many albums were released by his record company RCA (now BMG), albums containing both new material, and previously released material. WELCOME TO MY WORLD was one of the albums which contained only 10 songs, 9 of which had previously been released. It was originally released in 1977, only a few months prior to The King s premature death. Although fans at the time may have been disappointed by the regurgitating of previously released material, from the vantage point of 2008 all that matters is the music itself - is it worth listening to. Viva Las Vegas / Roustabout - Elvis Presley - Soundtrack

Out of the many films that Elvis Presley made in the 1960s, the two featured on this album, VIVA LAS VEGAS and ROUSTABOUT are probably the next - certainly the first one listed is at the top of my own personal list. Despite this there is some dross amongst the music, in addition to some great tracks. The title song to VIVA LAS VEGAS is great and I often find myself singing it around the house. Other good songs on the album include the duets with Ann-Margret, such as YOU RE THE BOSS and the fun THE LADY LOVES ME. Equally on the ROUSTABOUT collection of songs the title track is the best, but it is supplemented by poor quality material such as IT S CARNIVAL TIME and CARNY ...
