I Believe: The Gospel Masters - Elvis Presley
by vernonpresley - written on 28/05/09 (Useful, 13 readings)
Rating:
As with all of Elvis Presley s music it can be quite daunting to know where to start - his albums have been re-released over and over again, and a great many compilation albums have also been created. If you are wanted to listen to his gospel music though, you can t go far wrong with buying this 4 CD set called I BELIEVE - THE GOSPEL MASTERS. This features all of the studio-recorded gospel music Elvis recorded during his lifetime, with an additional disc featuring the gospel music he recorded for his movies, his 1968 TV show (commonly referred to as the Comeback Special ), his live shows from the 1970s, and even some informal home recordings of gospel songs. Welcome To My World - Elvis Presley
by vernonpresley - written on 30/10/08 (Very useful, 79 readings)
Rating:
During Elvis lifetime many albums were released by his record company RCA (now BMG), albums containing both new material, and previously released material. WELCOME TO MY WORLD was one of the albums which contained only 10 songs, 9 of which had previously been released. It was originally released in 1977, only a few months prior to The King s premature death. Although fans at the time may have been disappointed by the regurgitating of previously released material, from the vantage point of 2008 all that matters is the music itself - is it worth listening to. And the answer to that is a resounding yes . There are some wonderful songs on this album, including HELP ME MAKE ...

Viva Las Vegas / Roustabout - Elvis Presley - Soundtrack
by vernonpresley - written on 17/05/09 (Very useful, 4 readings)
Rating:
Out of the many films that Elvis Presley made in the 1960s, the two featured on this album, VIVA LAS VEGAS and ROUSTABOUT are probably the next - certainly the first one listed is at the top of my own personal list. Despite this there is some dross amongst the music, in addition to some great tracks. The title song to VIVA LAS VEGAS is great and I often find myself singing it around the house. Other good songs on the album include the duets with Ann-Margret, such as YOU RE THE BOSS and the fun THE LADY LOVES ME. Equally on the ROUSTABOUT collection of songs the title track is the best, but it is supplemented by poor quality material such as IT S CARNIVAL TIME and CARNY ...
