Recommended for fans of Beth/Simian Mobile Disco electro style

Beth Ditto the lead vocalist with Gossip who released albums 'Standing in the way of control' (2005) and 'Music for Men' (2009).
In 2009 she collaborated with Simian Mobile Disco on 'Cruel Intentions' from their 'Temporary Pleasures' album. This E.P. was the first collection of Beth Ditto's solo work, released in 2011.

      *Track listing*

      1. I wrote the book - A lively dance track with a chorus that I could easily sing-along to. A great song to get you in a lively mood, and ready for the rest of the album.
      2. Goodnight, Good Morning - A slower tempo electronica track, nice to chill out too. The vocal tone/style in some parts reminded me of Denise Williams of 'Let's hear it for the boy' 'Free' fame in the 80's.
      3. Open Heart Surgery - I would describe this electronic/dance number as having that retro 80's style once again.
      4. Do you need someone? - *My personal favourite* The electro drum/synthesizer made me move my hips and tap my feet. Beth's voice is a dreamy/haunting wave of pleasure. This track definitely sends shivers down my spine of good vibes. Would be great to hear at a funky bar, in either somewhere like Brighton or Camden.

The combination of Beth's enduring voice with the modern tech dance vibrations, is an exquisite blend.
And one that I was very much looking forward to from when I heard about the alliance between herself & Simian Mobile Disco. As a member of a rock/indie band or as a solo artist her versatility can work with many different music genres.
