Erotica - Madonna

This album for me is the best of Madonna's amazing 25year career, it is also her most under rated work to date (aswell as American Life) This was the 1st album of new material from Madonna in the 90s after the awesome hits package "The immaculate collection" Erotica is a pain filled, sexual and straight from Madonnas heart. Singing on heart ache from her divorce to the tabloids writing the usual lies about her. Also a very touching song called "In this life" which is a deep power ballad about one of her friends that died of AIDS.Very powerfull stuff. I have recently started adding to my album collection, which I normally do a few times a year. But while I have been adding to my collection I have also been going through those cd’s that seem to get forgotten and swept to the side, even if they are a piece of art. One of these dust swept albums was Erotica. This has to be one of my favourite Madonna albums although it is the least sold to date with a worldwide rate of 6 million albums. Erotica is probably the most underrated album that Madonna has ever produced. This is due in some part to the controversy that Madonna was causing at the time. During the late 80’s and early 90’s Madonna did everything to shock people. First she upset the Catholic community with the ‘Like a Prayer’ video (where she was seen snogging non other than Christ himself and dancing in front of burning crucifix’s). This album has a sexual, sensual feel to it...a very different album to any other that Maddy has ever made. A very controversial album, it is a contemporary of Madonna's infamous pornographic book "SEX", and it represents a brave attempt by Madonna to forge a new style for herself to move on from her Eighties sound. The title track, Erotica is, not surprisingly, one of the stronger songs on the album. Maddy plays the part of a kinky dominatrix and she goes about seducing you, the listener. During her erotic period, Madonna released her album which was aptly named Erotica. Although not one of her better albums it still has quite a lot to offer, especially one of my favourite songs called rain. It's worth listening to if nothing else. It does have a really good song on it though called Rain which I'm sure most of you will have heard. However that being said, I am a Madonna fan and have to rate it as a five star.
