After quitting Buffalo Springfield to go solo, Young released his self titled debut in January '69. Six months later, this, his second album, found him back with a band: Crazy horse, consisting of Danny Whitten on guitar, Ralph Molina on drums and Billy Talbot on bass. They'd been together just three weeks when they recorded this brilliant LP. Young had frequently collaborated with superior musicians to Crazy Horse, but their great empathy and ability to lock into Young's groove really brought out the emotive quality in his playing and singing.
