Well, what can you say about the debut album from the Chemical Brothers. Known at the time as a big beat outfit, Tom and Ed were desperate to prove that their music was more than old school breaks played at the wrong tempo with a bit of distortion on top. And didn't they prove it. Yes, they did. Throwing into their melting pot influences from Renegade Soundwave, Depth Charge, Boogie Down Productions, Madchester, and just about everything else that was cool over the last 20 years. They had the skills to use decks with samplers and computers to amazing effect. In their studio full of stomp boxes and cables the duo created an album that captured the vibe of ... Exit planet dust. The music is playing let’s get straight into it with the chemical brothers first track Leave home. The brothers going to work it out the brothers going to work it out introduces us to this record. Yeah it’s getting to a good beat the brothers going to work it out heavier beat and the music soars and lots of noises I cannot describe. Then the second track is “in dust we trust” This track starts with long low tones and develops into a good beat echoing around me. I sit here wearing phones listening and nodding my head there are a few words not many, the heavy insistent beat is compelling reaching my ... Read the complete review

This is a suberb debut album from the Chemical Brothers. The collaborations with Beth Orton (Alive Alone) and Tim Burgess (Life Is Sweet) work brilliantly, as do all of the music-only tracks. The music warrants close examination, as however dancey it may seem, it is expertly crafted with a skillful level of complexity. The Chemical Brothers make thinking man's dance music, and Exit Planet Dust is packed with brilliant examples of the genre at its best, be it Chemical Beats or Leave Home. ... The Chemicals first album still sounds as fresh as it did when I bought it 4 years ago. In my opinion the best Chemical Brothers album made, combines phat beats and wicked sound effects for one of the most original album I heard in a while. Some say that that Ed and Tom are the founders of the Big Beat scene, while I don't agree; they certainly brought it to my attention. The first half an hour of the album is blended to perfection, as each track finishes another track follows on smoothly; all the tracks fade into each other whilst never getting mixed up. Each track is individual, experimenting with sound flashes and bleeps and noises more than harmonics ... Read the complete review

Speak English Or Die - S.O.D.
Excellent cross-over, pissed people off
Some tracks are just too short and just seem like a "laugh"
Into the Unknown - Bad Religion
Brett Gurewitz gets some guitar solos, and Greg Graffin shows he can do mellow too.
A very lousy eighties synth-pop-rock album.
Las Ruinas Del Eden - Avalanch
Wintereich - Immortal Souls
Enjoyable guitars.
Sound becomes repetitive before too long.
Ashes - Arcane
Interesting poetic, soft prog metal in the style of Green Carnation.
Dull and lacking in stand-out moments.
Blood, Sweat & Tears 4 - Blood, Sweat and Tears
Pop Rock - 1996
Welterwerk - Drottnar
Tries something different.
Not a complete success.
Miss World - Briard
Lots of different styles, catchy!
None really, recording can be a bit poor though
