When this album came out, everybody shouted 'he's back, it sounds like old prince' and that makes me just SICK! The people who say this, really don't know Prince as a musician. Al his music sound different. Every album has a sound, but never like a previous album. What people want is, that he would make a second purple rain, but please......that time is past. Rave is a good new album and in 2 songs he uses 'old' drum sounds and that is the only comparison possible between his old work. Rave is new and rave is good. But personally i think (in contrast to the world) that the trilogy album 'emancipation' and 'new power soul' ...

Like any other devoted Prince fan i rushed out to get this on its first day out, after much anticipation and rumours within the online prince community. It takes a few listenings to, before you can bite the cherry. Sadly i found this album weak, what is this rubbish he is pumping out? Damn we all know what he can write and play, but i think the influence of larry graham has gone to his head. Too many instruments and prince yet again trying to rap, on " strange but true" which is a song that would make you think he had been brain washed by some cult into thinking he was jesus, when he sings " by the power invested in me by god all negativity bows". ...
