Firstly i'd like to say i'm a little surprised that the previous reviewer didn't like this album much but then that's what this site is about, getting different opinions. I happened to get this album a few years ago purely out of interest. I hadn't heard any of their previous stuff. I'm now a big hootie fan and this is my favourite album out of the four they've written. 'Fairweather Johnson' is all about feelings and emotion. The obvious hits, 'Old Man in Me' and 'Tucker's Town', with catchy melodies are great sounding tunes, but it's the songs such as 'Let It Breathe' and 'When ... Read the complete review

I'm a big Hootie and the Blowfish fan, that's why I was so disappointed with this album. 'Cracked Rear View' and 'Musical Chairs' were such great albums with such emotive, soulful tunes, and this album is pretty dire. There are one or two tracks which are worth a listen, but the majority are bland and just lack that certain something. I can't pin-point what exactly is wrong with these songs - the band don't seem to have changed their style at all, but it just lacked the magic their first album had.
