Advantages: Brilliant Songs throughout the album
Disadvantages: Production quality is tinny
Lostprophets are undoubtedly one of the biggest bands in British rock right now, but it wasn't always the same.
Fake Sound Of Progress (Remastered Copy) is the 2001 re-release of their debut album, the original of which is unfortunately out of print, so keep your eyes out for an Ebay bargain!!
I won't do a song by song review as after my early reviews, I feel this wastes time so lets cut to the chase :P
Advantages:
The opening track, Shinobi Vs Dragonninja is an absolute stormer of a song, displaying the Pontypridd rockers' skills in abundance, especially Ian Watkins vocals (sounding like a young Mike Patton) and Jamie Oliver (not the chef) providing able backing from his turntable desk.
The title track follows, and is set at a different pace to Shinobi...and lyrically is one of the better songs on the album, displaying a massive Fuck You to record labels who had doubted the band.
The middle section and the end of the album are also accomplished efforts, displaying nu-metal trends which has seen the 'Prophets compared to early Linkin Park (without the rapping).
Disadvantages:
Personally, I can only see one thing wrong with this debut album. The main gripe I have is the production quality of The Fake Sound Of Progress, as all the audio sounds a little tinny and maybe in need of a little more bass. This could be excused except that this is supposed to be a remaster, yet it sounds like THIS was the version that was made for £10000.
Sounds Like: Faith No More, Linkin Park
Thanks For Reading :)

Summary: Britains best alt-rock band!

- 02/12/08 Me too, LT was far too mainstream for my liking, this had a dirty, slight underground feeling to it and i loved it. |

- 01/12/08 This band are amazing! I hope they go back to more of this sort of stuff and 'Start Something' sound on their next record. Great review. |
