Advantages: Amazing performance, Good ticket price
Disadvantages: None
Since there appears to be no section for reviewing this band live, this seemed to be the only place to put such a review. I saw Evanescence live in November last year at the CIA (Cardiff International Arena) and can honestly say it was one of the greatest live performances I have seen. The first band on were Apartment 26, a loud and energetic punk rock group who really got the place going. They were followed closely by Finger 11 (what is it with number names?) who gave a good performance, but ultimately many people seemed to want them to get off, eager to see the people they had come from all over the UK to see. After a wait that seemed to last hours, the band finally emerged, driving the crowd wild. Launching right into their repertoire with more energy and passion than you would normally believe possible. I was a little concerned that they would rely too heavily on their production team on the studio album and come up a little short playing live. Those fears were laid to rest within seconds. While the album is very slickly produced, the band have the skill and energy to pull off fantastic versions of their live songs. While the whole band did a great job, Amy was the undisputed star of the show. Dressed as some kind of gothic ballerina doll, she looked truly amazing on stage and her voice had the power to leave everyone in the audience transfixed. It was an amazing display. As far as I can remember, just about every song on "fallen" was covered, along with some B-sides and new material they had been working on. Songs like "Bring me to life" and "Going Under" were played with all the power and, at times, aggression you could hope for while slower songs like "My Immortal" were delivered with careful, beautiful precision that shows a truly talented band. I plan to go see them again when they return to the UK and urge you all to do the same. Ultimately, what you have is a band t
hat puts 110% into their live performances, pulls off fantastic live versions of their songs and leave you with a feeling that can simply be described as "feeling totally alive" after seeing them. What greater recommendation do they need? Note: I should just mention the cost of £16 for the ticket. Not bad at all, but who knows what it will be on their next tour?

- 16/08/04 My apologies. However as at this time, Fallen is their only album, it makes little difference. Perhaps if a live section were to be set up for each band it would make it easier. Searching for "Evanescence" gives just this one product. As for suggesting it - last time I suggested something, i got a reply three weeks later saying no because apparently Safari isn't a proper consumer application, even though it comes with every apple computer. Perhaps they've added it since then, but I haven't looked. The other time I suggested a product, even though I specified PC games, it got put in the Playstation category (Ignition).
So yes, not the most useful system...

- 16/08/04 I've given this a Not Useful not as a reflection of your review but because it is wrongly posted.
Yes, there might not be anywhere else to post it - have you checked? What about music in general or what about suggesting it?
The problem is if we all just posted reviews in any old category (whether it's near or not) then where would dooyoo be? What would be the point of having categories?
It 39;s also unfair on those dooyoo members who have written a review about this album to have your off-topic one in there too and it's not right that people are rating this anything other than NU.
If a consumer i.e. non-member was looking for info about this album and came across your review then as it isn't about the album it is of no use to the consumer, is it?
If you write a review about the album let me know and I will gladly re-read/rate as necessary.
