Today's music industry is full of stars who fulfil the 'little talent, good looks' mantra. As a result, many artists who lack 'mainstream' good looks but have exceptional talent get overlooked. Sullivan is proof that we need to bring talent back to the forefront, and her five grammy nominations support this. Vocals: When you hear her sing it'll be hard to believe that she is only twenty-two years old. Her sultry, powerful voice is reminiscent of an era long gone. "Fearless" came out in 2008, and was the debut album from the R&B and Pop act Jazmine Sullivan. The Philadelphian singer made an impact with her debut, Missy Elliot-assisted single Missy Elliot, and from there managed to infiltrate the R&B world with a series of singles to back this up. 1. "Bust Your Windows" To get things going you have one of her big singles. Jazmine Sullivan is an incredibly talented new artist and at the age of only 17 has made a huge impact in the American Music Industry. She is heavily compared to Lauryn Hill and since we are still waiting to hear some new material from her Jazmine's album is extremely welcome in my collection. I can hear where the comparison is coming from because the two have very soulful voices and a lot of Jazmine's harmonies remind me of Lauryn Hill's and though it is a great compliment to Jazmine I hope people will regard her as her own artist.
